its decided

i very recently and very intensely decided i am going to buy a motorcycle soon. like, when im outta school next year.
cant wait!!

dont asky me why, either. its just that my hair is getting so long (again, no idea why its this long--except its lookin great because kate cut it in january!) so i might as well fit the character and join up on riding the back of the wind with other angsty greasers!
(i am so damn sick of cars, people driving a whole car with just themselves (like me), cell phone companies, corporations and oh i am going to love my relationship with direct loans for the rest of my life.
by this time next year, i will be in alaska, hopefully without a phone. just a website, portfolio, and job. just me and the back of the wind.)

thrash your face off

i quite like this.
the al partanen! and tony trujillo! show!!

so i am makin the transition into summer fake life in minneapolis. (at mcad, to be exact)
just telling myself that i deserve to get comfortable in my new 3 bedroom apartment, when these past few summers have been delightfully transient for me in oregon. i wish i had me one of these from skate study house.

and i have been going out entirely too much. last night was the kicker, because as soon as me, ellie, and jake had cheers'd on never returning to pancho villa, who had just served us horribly, they came out with 3 giant flaming shots of tequila/kahula for us. i still dont want to go there again, but its a nice cultural transition into smoothing over bad, or even 'okay' experiences. summer should be a blast 24/7 right.
big things happening this weeeekend and next week and then we're going to chicago!

i seriously would love to grace the nights with these swooping from my ears.

recycled skate deck e'rrins.

yknow what. it would be basic to make these. crafty.

fast awake

its been a long end-of-semester. and thankfully these last few days of true vacay have felt even longer!
up in bemidji minnesota at my home.

im excited to start a new designerd blog over at mysterese.com
and i will keep this OG blog up-to-date with the latest of mysterese perplexities of being badass.
today, i give thanks for my freedom.
i have dreams and hopes and not a heavy bloated belly of childbirth. i live in cities that actually have real skateparks and real restaurants. i have a real family and a real list of accomplishments on my resume. real potential, folks. thanks.

these dudes are also headed to WBMC next year: gareth stehr and patrick melcher.

this is my gal! (except i would never street skate in anything but skytops)

talking to glen glans. looking at glenhaven.

here it is. the glenhaven bowl i speak of so dearly. these independent videos make me twitch a little. they do a video right! natural audio, the good old chatter and squeak of every skateboard and skateboarder.
this edit opens with the ever amazing minnesota transplant Darren Navarrette.

thankfully, i found some footage of this! its awesome that the only feature worth filming for them was the extension. i wish i could even hit the coping on that wall...
i miss lookin out to the street course to see my friends tailsliding the faux brick bank. lookin pretty mean as they would be dodging a whole lot of small children. hey, i think chet stole your line there, glen glans! i miss us skating in oregon.

(someday, maybe, someone will read this sklog and think i am cool.)

love to this guy

so glad for his life!! michael tubbs im sure he'll be shredding again soon. back to blackberry shakes in oregon again this summer!

if you're interested in his life/death story, read on here at mtubbs.com
* also, he has an article in the latest Concussion skate mag. issue #37.

WHY ISNT THERE A MASSIVE REVOLT AGAINST THE WAR?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?

these veterans are the only people worth listening to until then.
real people, folks. Iraq Veterans Against the War
I dont care that some vets had glamorized visions in their heads about heroism, masculinity, and domination by signing up. I dont even care if they signed up because they were weak enough to 'not see any other way to pay for college' and all the bullshit. Sometimes, like two of my best friends in high school, the service is their heritage. Probably never in history has there been such deception and mistreatment of people who have given up their lives for our political regime.
read this, and do something massive.

anti-RNC will win in '08.

skateparks rule the nation

(happy earth day fair! mcad is amazing!)

the busiest day of my life by near. (not far) served tea, skated mcad for once, registered for class, wrote about why i will be a good r.a., and dreamed of bigger skating. lately i have decided i need to be in portland for july, and maybe alot of that reason is to skate (glenhaven).
well....here is the wisconsin version of that dreamland bowl beauty!!!!!

maybe i can stay around here afterall??
(its about time i learn to grind pool coping)

ITS FUN

(i knew i wouldnt be able to watch this without posting it on my new sklog)

louie barletta, friends.
best is when he tucks one over the pile of scrap wood!!

amazing hair

dont ever take anything too seriously

rockaway armada, inspiring maytes.

this is the time to stay afloat, keeping our heads up toward the damned good sunshine, up into the brilliance of accomplishment. goals are pastimes, and we are seeing the end of our projects eye-to-eye.
these last few weeks of my fourth year of academia is about to suffer a suckerpunch in the gut...

avant-garde, raw energy, punk community meetz gallery exhibit? i've always wondered what kind of controversy this creates.whats the point of taking the backbone that is personal interaction out of a social, collab. project. there's nothing whitewashed walls can do...but good for them nonetheless!

on a related note, to those who also feel strongly about this please read about harrell fletcher's authentic enthusiasm describing the theories of his graduate program at portland state university.

oday, i came across a book typeset entirely in papyrus. the publishing company logo, book titles, and all. this book featured the watercolorings of the world trade center before an after the tragedy. the artist's earlier work, dating 8/31/01 was quite nice, pretty okay...but his linework into the month of september and thereafter was a trembling mess. it was a sad and often flat attempt at an artistic, landscape homage. the papryus typesettings of this book was ironically similar in personality. i guess somebody had to do it.

topic: video blogs

video blogs (mostly video diary entries) are SO TERRIBLE! who really wants to watch a face talking at you?!!!
self righteous ninnys...i had to watch too many of those last semester for blogs/vlogs class. sometimes, i attempt to watch them these days but it is the worst experience. if anyone can convince me that every video diary is not the same stale shit, please let me know! post the link for all i care. i will want to barf.
the weather in minneapolis today was much like winter in portland. it has a been a nostalgic, yet rather serious day here.
cheers to those folks who can take it all year in that great land! watch this video, by joe millionare and co. sums up the rugged social life on the streets of portland, through a narrative of some bike messenger friends : )

a discovery day

i just realized that different sensations can put me in a different state of mind.
nice.
the rays of sun are easing my my weary, arty fists. the Kills are reminding me of the edge i have (reflecting on portland trife life), and some aromatherapy helps sometimes, too.

p.s. i want to write on the world!

Thursday, March 6, 2008
